HIM is a Finnish rock band founded in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko Lindstrom and bassist Mikko Paananen. Since 1999, drummer Mika Karppinen has been a regular participant, and since 2001, keyboardist Janne Puurtinen. Between 1997 and 2013, the group released eight studio albums. HIM is the first Finnish band in the world whose album (Dark Light) has been certified gold disc by the American record label association. In Finland, Greatest Lovesongs vol. 666, Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights, Love Metal and Dark Light received platinum statuses, Razorblade Romance – 2 × platinum.
Ville’s favorite movie is “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and his favorite character, the star of the film is Jack Skellington!
Ville before the band HIM, played bass and drums. He was a bass player and drummer in amateur Finnish bands. One of them was the group “B.L.O.O.D”.
HIM’s EP album “666 Ways To Love” (1997) received, as a cover, the woman’s face. This woman is the mother of Ville, Anita.
Ville stated that the old tattoo on his left arm was made with the help of his friend, and that he did it when he was drunk. He later contradicted himself, saying that it was necessary.
Ville has a younger brother, Jesse, who was born in 1984. Jesse, whose business is completely different from his brother (he is the golden Champion of Finland, and he won the silver medal at the universal Thai boxing championship), he loves and admires Ville.

Linda shows his talent on HIM’s third-party project, Daniel Lioneye & The Rollers, using a nickname and showing himself as the “King of Rock and Roll”. It was only Linda’s personal album. The band played: Lily Laser (vocals and guitar), Ville Valo (drums), Mige Amur (bass). After only one appearance in Finland, Linda was forced to say goodbye to “Daniel Lioneye” because, as he said, it was impossible to be in two groups at the same time.
There is a secret track number 66 on the Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 album. This track lasts 1:30 minutes and is part of the song “Heartless-The Deleted Version”.
During the “Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights” period, Ville was wearing a coat that said “Your pretty face is going to hell”. This particular phrase is from Iggy Pop’s album, “Raw Power,” in honor of his greatest idol.
An unexpected event that disappointed Ville personally and other members of the HIM band was the cancellation of concerts with Ozzy Osbourne. The cause of the Ozzy accident was his 4-wheeled motorcycle, which left him with four broken ribs and an incomprehensible further career. In the end, the concert was canceled.
Ville sang several traditional Finnish songs, mainly with the band “Agents”. Some of them are: “IkkunaPrinsessa”, “Jykevaa On Rakkaus” and “Paratiisi”.
In his youth, Ville smoked 6 packs of cigarettes, one after the other, and at the same time, drank several bottles of drinks. After that, of course, his parents went with him to the hospital!
Ville’s mother, when her son reached the age of 18, “took” him and moved him to another house because he was allergic to dogs.
In his youth, Ville was a fan of Gene Simmons from the KISS group.
